My name is Cassie and I’ve been a bariatric dietitian for the past 12 years. I was fortunate to begin my career as a dietitian counseling weight loss surgery (WLS) patients and have been involved in the WLS industry ever since. I graduated from Arizona State University, but I’m a U of A fan (Go Wildcats). I completed my internship at Iowa State University, but am a lifelong Hawkeyes fan (Go Iowa). My daily food choices tend to fall somewhere between organic, locally grown produce and Velveeta. What can I say I’m a walking paradox!
Not only have I been working with bariatric patients professionally, it’s touched my personal life as well. Several members of my family have had WLS as a treatment for their disease. Although I haven’t had WLS, I am not one of those “naturally skinny” dietitians either. I’ve had ups and downs with my weight all of my adult life.
I’ve found inspiration through my patients, just as they find inspiration from me (hopefully 🙂 ) . I hope that this site will be a helpful tool for you following your WLS.
